What is included in the INTERNSHIP programme?

1. The arrangement of the internship
The position is a real job position which will require a commitment for 6 months, from Monday to Friday and for up to 30 hours weekly.

2. Pre-Departure Support

You may have many questions before you arrive. Feel free to ask about every little detail you would like to know about Peru, the school, teaching tips, your Peruvian host family preferences or travel plans in South America. We usually reply messages within 24hours and sometimes instantly.

3. Airport Pick-up in Lima.

We welcome you at the airport in Lima and transfer you to your host family house or temporary accommodation [non-Lima] placements. 

4. Accommodation advice

We are happy to provide accommodation options and advice before arriving in Peru so that you can have accommodation organized beforehand.

5. SIX hours In-Service English Language Teaching Training in Lima.

It is compulsory for interns to attend the teaching training prior to the start date at the host school. Teaching training is conducted in the city of Lima, usually 1-2 days after the arrival.

6. Salary & additional benefits offered:

  • A monthly salary starting at USD$500 net per month [£400 approx.] which will allow you to cover your meals and board. * NET SALARY MEETS BY OVER TWO TIMES THE PERUVIAN MINIMUM WAGE.

  • 30% Government taxes are paid by the host school separately.

  • Temporary Working Visa: Organized by the host school.

  • Transport or an accommodation allowance may be provided too.

  • National Health insurance: when Temporary Working Visa has been issued.

  • Programme completion certificate.

7. Liability Insurance

VolunTeach Peru pays an expensive liability insurance every year. Universities overseas strictly require Organisations and employers to hold this documentation so they can allow their students to volunteer or work for VolunTeach Peru.

8. Temporary Working Visa Orientation

We can provide information and advice on the Temporary Working Visa process before arriving in Peru.
